At the end of an excellent season the Colts sign off with the Somerset Cup Final against Taunton, which is being held at Hornets RFC on Sunday 28th. Taunton have always been a tough proposition for Winscombe, with Combe throwing away a first-half lead the last time these two sides met in the cup two years' ago. However, this season has seen our lads mature into an impressive outfit and the hope is that the older half of the squad can mark their move into senior rugby with some silverware. Support would be very welcome - KO 2.30pm.
At the other end of the age and ability range, the 3rd XV have been rounded up and brought down from the hills for a special fixture against Broad Plain seconds. For various logistical reasons there is no senior tour this year (the plan was to hold some sort of event in a brewery but we couldn't organise one), so some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to organise a last-minute tour to Glasgow. When that proved to be too far, and Cheddar proved to be too near, Bristol was selected as the unfortunate recipient of the thirds' attentions. The match kicks off at 3pm. Beyond that I cannot say.
There are no other senior games, but the M&J season isn't over yet. The minis are all attending the Weston Festival on Sunday and hoping for some good weather. The U13s are at home to Midsomer Norton, the U14s are away to Burnham-on-Sea, and the U15s are on tour. Gareth has asked me to stop putting the girls fixtures up because they're always wrong.
